
This inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary conference seeks
to examine and explore issues which lie at the interface of fear, horror
and terror. In particular the project is interested in investigating
the various contexts of fear, horror and terror, and assessing issues surrounding
their artistic, literary, moral, social, (geo)political, philosophical,
psychological and religious significance, both individually and
together.

Among the themes which the project will seek to explore are;
- creating fear, horror and terror
- contexts of fear, horror and terror
- the language of fear, horror and terror
- the meaning of fear, horror and terror
- the significance of fear, horror and terror
- the role of fear, horror and terror
- recreational fear, horror and terror
- aesthetic fear, horror and terror
- fear, horror, terror and the imagination
- fear, horror, terror and art, cinema, theatre
- fear, horror, terror and literature (including
children’s stories)
- fear, horror, terror and the other
- fear, horror, terror and technology
- fear, horror, terror and hope; and despair
- confronting fear, horror and terror
Related themes will also be identified for development
and exploration. Out of our deliberations it is anticipated that a series
of related cross context research projects will develop.
